Introduction

WordHack is a simple and addictive word game. It entertains both the spatial and verbal areas of the mind. It could be considered educational, but is actually just extremely fun to play. This new version changes the game play by adjusting the difficulty speeds and adding levels as a new objective.
.
How to play

Transferring the game to your handheld device

In order to play WordHack on your hand held device, you must first copy the WORDHACK.PRC file included in this distribution, to your hand held device. You may be able to use the Palm Quick Install application to make this transfer. If not, then check the instructions that came with your device.

Choosing a difficulty level

The first thing you will see when you begin the game is the Game Selection Screen. You can choose a Difficulty Level by tapping one of the buttons, labeled: Easy, Normal, or Insane.

Game Play

The objective of WordHack is to create words from the available lettered tiles on the screen and to prevent any particular column of tiles from touching the lava at the bottom. To create a word such as ZEBRA, you will need to tap a Z tile. Then find an E tile next to the Z tile and a B tile next to the E tile. Adjacent tiles can be any of the possible 8 tiles surrounding the preceding tile. When you tap the A tile at the end of ZEBRA, tap it one more time to submit the Word for evaluation. If the Word you’ve selected is actually a Word found in WordHack’s dictionary, then the tiles making up that Word will disappear and the tiles below them will slide up into the open space. If you’ve started a Word and then realize that it’s not what you’re looking for, tap the last tile twice for submission, or somewhere else on the playing field. The speed at which new tiles appear will increase at each new level. Progression to the next level occurs when only 20 tiles are left on the board.

Surprise Tiles

Surprise Tiles appear with question marks. These tiles can not be used in a word. However, when a Surprise Tile reaches the top row, it will transform into a random letter. If a Surprise Tile must be eliminated before it reaches the top row, a single tap will cause it to disappear. However, a penalty of ten new tiles will instantly appear at the bottom of the screen and slide up into place.

Scoring

When you successfully submit a Word, you will be given points equal to the number of tiles in the Word, squared. One letter Words are not allowed.

For example:

2 tiles = 4 points
3 tiles = 9 points
4 tiles = 16 points
5 tiles = 25 points
6 tiles = 36 points
7 tiles = 49 points
8 tiles = 64 points
9 tiles = 81 points
10 tiles = 100 points

During game play, your Score is displayed at the top of the screen. Tiles Left required to reach the next level is displayed on the top right. If you attain the Highest Score ever achieved, then your score will be permanently displayed as the High Score for the Difficulty Level you just played.

Pausing and Restarting

If you need to Pause the game, you can tap the Pause Button in the upper right corner of the screen. To Restart the game, tap the Square Stop Button on the left of the Pause Button.
