Version 2.0 - 4/23/2001
Bug fix: In early posts of version 1.1, the scroll bar on the main screen would not scroll. This has been corrected.
There is now a summary screen which shows the current balance for all categories.
New entries in each category are now designated as either taken or granted and display as positive and negative numbers in the main screen. For example: If I take a vacation day it is entered as taken, reducing my balance. If I am given 2 bonus vacation days from my employer, I make a granted entry of 2 days.
The main menu has been reorganized and has some addition entries.
A preferences entry is now in the main menu allowing you to change the sort order of log entries, use the new summary screen as a startup screen, and log PaidLeave generated entries.
A future calculator has been added to the main menu. This will allow you to see what your balance will be on a specified future date.
Scrolling can now be done with the hard up/down buttons.
The PaidLeave databases have been renamed. The "Accruals-GC02" has been changed to "PaidLeaveLog" and "Settings-GC02" has been changed to "PaidLeaveSettings". Please make the necessary changes in you Palm backup applications.
Version 1.1 - 7/20/2000
Thanks to everyone who
submitted suggestions based on version 1.0. I've include
many of those suggestions in this release.
Added the ability to categorize days and settings. Using categories, you can now track your vacation, personal, sick, etc. days. Limited only by the number of allowable categories (as of this writing max=16).
Redesigned main screen to offer a 'cleaner' look.
Added a 'Weekly' and 'Bi-Weekly' accrual frequencies.
Negative accrual balances are now accepted to allow for vacation planning before time is actually accrued.
Added a setting that indicates that partial days are not allowed (no decimals).
Right justified time column
Display full date based on users display preferences
NOTE: Please note that you should delete version 1.0 then install version 1.1 due to numerous database changes. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Version 1.0 - 7/12/2000
General release of Version 1.0
PaidLeave tracks your vacation time, personal days, or other time you can accrue.
How to setup and use PaidLeave
First, enter your accrual fields using the category box in the
upper right hand corner. Enter accrual settings for each
category by selecting that category then select 'Settings...' from
the menu. Enter your accrual rate, frequency, next update, and
whether you want to carry-over time for one year to the next. For
example, if I accrue 1 day per month and I am allowed to carry-over
time, I would enter 1 in the amount field, select 'monthly' for the
frequency, and check the carry-over box. Now PaidLeave will add 1 day
to my accrual balance every month starting with the date I entered in
the Next Update field.
Next, use the 'Adjust Balance...'
option from the main menu to set the accrual balance you the paid
leave time you currently have accrued.
Shortcut: Click the
amount displayed at the bottom of the main screen.
Now
when you decide to take a day off, click the 'New' button and enter
the date you are taking, a brief description, and how much time you
are taking. For example, if I am going to take a half day to go
fishing (which I do as much as possible) I enter the date, write
'Fishing' in the description, and enter .5 in the amount. PaidLeave
will adjust my balance accordingly.
If you start to
accumulate a lot of days in your table, you can use the 'Purge...'
option in the menu to remove all days based on a date you enter. This
does not alter the accrual balance at all.
