HOLIDAYS

This program will keep a list of dates when you have or will take some time off. A very easy to use interface allows you to add and remove days or hours to this list. There is even the possibility to make a link to the standard Palm® datebook application to add this event in your agenda.

Screen

The main screen looks like the next figure.

On the left hand site column you see the number of remaining days and hours, a note field corresponding with the selected day on the right hand site column and two buttons: add and remove.

On the right hand site you see a column in where all days are listed which you are free. When the day is not a full holiday you will see behind the date the number of hours taken, or ½ when you selected (in preferences menu) only to display the days.

Add

Adding a new entry in the list of days can be done by tapping the 'Add' button in the main screen. First a calender will be displayed on which you can select the correct date on which the day (or first day of multiple days) will be added.

In the next screen you can select the number of days or hours. When you change the number and tap the button 'days', the indicated number of consecutive days will be added to the list.

The note will be added to the day and displayed in the main screen when the day is selected on the right hand site column.

Remove

Tapping the remove button on the main screen will pop up this screen. It will ask you to confirm before the selected day will be removed from the list of days. The number of remaining days and hours will be adjusted. The days will however not be removed from the Palm® datebook program.

Preferences

The menu item 'Prefs' allows you to change some settings:

Skip weekends

When enabled, weekend days (Saturdayrday and Sunday) will be skipped when adding days. In this way you can add multiple days longer then one workweek.

Count hours

This setting enables you to administer the amount of holidays in hours. Both days and hours can be entered and the remaining number will be displayed in both units.

Hours a Day

To compute the correct number of days left, it is needed to know how many hours a normal working day contains.

Add in Databook

When enabled, the (newly) entered days will also be added to the agenda of the standard Palm® datebook program. In the added line will be show the number of hours and a reference to the holidays program.

New Year

When selected, first a confirmation screen will be shown. When the 'OK' button is tapped, all entered days will be removed and the remaining number of days can be entered. The number of hours will be calculated using the value of hours a day given in the preferences menu. Note that this task can not be undone, when executed the database containing the holidays is erased.

More Days

This menu item allows you to correct the number of remaining days and hours. Depending on the setting in the preferences, the number of days or hours will be shown and can be altered using the up and down arrows or by entering the value using the grafitti area.
Days: the value can be adjusted in units of halve days.
Hours: can be changed in units of whole hours.

Conversion from old version (V0.2)

Due to a change in the values used by the holidays program it is needed to convert the database. An utility (converter.prc) enables you to convert this database. When activated, the utility will first check the current values. It can quite accurate determine whether the database is created by the old version of holidays or by the latest version. A conformation will always be asked before the actual conversion will take place. This utility can be erased after it has been used.
