Opening a Record
Duplicating a Record
D-Lock is a highly configurable and secure Personal Information Management application for PalmOS devices. With D-Lock you can keep in a single place all your passwords, credit card information, contacts, and any other information you can imagine, due to D-Lock's highly configurable templates. The information stored in D-Lock is encrypted using 128 bit string Blowfish encryption, so you can be sure that no one but you can have access to your data.
D-Lock works on any PalmOS compatible device, with PalmOS 3.5 or above.
When you download D-Lock you get a Zip file that you can extract to any directory you wish. Inside the Zip archive you will find the following files:

For basic use you can install only DLock_EN.prc and DLockForms_EN.pdb. You will be able to use the templates we provide to safely store your data. You will not be able to modify these templates, delete them or add new ones.
For advanced use you should install all three files: DLock_EN.prc,DLockForms_EN.pdb and DFormEditor_EN.prc. With the additional DForm Editor application you will be able to modify and delete the original provided templates, and you will also be able to create and add your own templates for use in D-Lock. If you have an expansion memory card (like a Sans Disk card or a Memory Stick, for example) it might be a good idea to install the DForm Editor application in the expansion memory card. In that way you can have D-Lock available for everyday use, and if you need to modify or create a new template you only need to insert your memory card and use DForm Editor.
Please refer to your PDA documentation for information about how to install files into your Handheld.
The first time you run D-Lock you will be prompted for a password. Input and then confirm your password. The password can be 16 characters long. You are not limited only to the characters that appear as buttons on the screen. You can input any other character you want using Graffiti. Please be sure not to forget your password. If you do, you will lose any information stored in D-Lock. If you do not want your password to be displayed as you input it, you can change D-Lock'spreferences. If you wish, you can also change your password later.
You can change D-Lock's access password at any time. You only need to select the option "Change Password" from the menu in the Main Form.
In the Main Form you will find a list of all the data stored in D-Lock. Here you can open or duplicate existing records, as well as create new records. You can also change the application's preferences.
You must have a selected record in the main form in order to duplicate it. There are 4 different ways to select a record:
Once you have a selected record, you only need to select the menu option "Duplicate Record" to duplicate the record.
Select the "New Record" menu option or tap the "New" button at the bottom of the screen.
When creating a New Record you must choose what kind of record you want to create, and the category that it will be initially filed into. You can change this category at any time. If the types that appear are not exactly what you want, you can modify them using the included DForm Editor application.
To delete a Record, you must first open it, and then select the "Details" menu option or button. A Dialog will appear where you will be able to Delete the current record, as well as change its category.
To open the Preferences Dialog select the menu option "Preferences". Here you will be able to set the following preferences:
D-Lock is Shareware. After you install it you have 30 days to evaluate it. If you want to continue using D-Lock, you will need to register it. To register, please visit www.PalmGear.com to get an Activation Key.
If the evaluation period has already expired, you will see a dialog where you will be asked to input your Activation Key:
If the evaluation period has not expired you can register D-Lock by first selecting the "About" menu option, and then tapping the "Register D-Lock" button in the About dialog.
When you tap the "Register D-Lock" button the above dialog will appear. You can input your Activation Key in this dialog.
If you need to reinstall your handheld or if you are upgrading to a new handheld, you will surely want to keep the data you had already introduced in D-Lock. D-Lock's Data Bases are backed up in your PC whenever you HotSync your handheld, so usually all you have to do is follow your handheld's manual to HotSync a new PalmOS device with your old data. If for some reason you need to reinstall manually, the following information will be useful to you:
D-Lock is distributed with the 3 files mentioned in the Installation section of this manual: DLock_EN.prc,DLockForms_EN.pdb and DFormEditor_EN.prc. In addition to this files, when D-Lock is run for the first time in your handheld it creates 2 additional databases to store your information:

When you HotSync your handheld these files are backed up in the following directory:
[Directory where you installed Palm Desktop] \ [Your last Name] \ Backup \
If, for example, you installed Palm Desktop in the directory C:\Program Files\Palm, and your name is John Smith, the directory where you can find the above files could be the following:
C:\Program Files\Palm\Smith\Backup
In order to manually reinstall D-Lock you will need to install both of the above mentioned databases, which you can find in the Backup directory in your desktop computer.
If you made changes to the default templates or added your own, you will need to reinstall the file DLockForms.pdb that exists in the Backup directory in your desktop computer. Do not install the original DLockForms_EN.pdb file included in the distribution! The original file does not include your template modifications, and it is possible that you will have records that use new templates, so they will not be able to open.
It is important that when you reinstall D-Lock you set the same password as you had before. If you set a different password, you will not be able to view your data, because it will still be encrypted using your previous password. If you want to have a new password when reinstalling, first set your old password and then select the menu option "Options / Change Password" to set a new password. In this way all your data will be encrypted with the new password.
DForm Editor is the application that you can use to modify the templates that are included with D-Lock, as well as create from scratch your own templates and add color to them. Please click on the following link to see DForm Editor's documentation.
