• 3 separate ways to play Tennis on a PDA to meet your exact requirements. The major difference between the three Game Modes is how close are they to the real Tennis:
  - Real and Smart Modes - control your return force&direction, make great aces;
  - Basic Mode - a simple and relaxing 3D Pong-alike game.

Start 3D Tennis. Tap on the "Register" button from the first game screen to enter your registration code.

Important! You must be aware of what is your exact Palm hotsync username when purchasing!
If not, tap on the "Register button" on the first game screen. You will see it. Note that it is
case-sensitive so "John" is not like "john".
Write it exactly as you see it.

• 3DTennis-PalmOS5-HiRes.prc if your device is a high-resolution PDA (Tungsten, Zire, Clie, etc.), running OS 5.x or newer
• 3DTennis-PalmOS5-LoRes.prc - for Treo 600 smartphones. This is a special low-res version with all other benefits of the OS5 version.
• 3DTennis-PalmOS3.prc - for any other Palm OS device.

If you are not sure which version above best suits your device, install the low-end version 3DTennis-PalmOS3.prc and it will give you information if you need to install another version at the first start. Reinstall the right version over 3DTennis-PalmOS3.prc.

The files above will appear as 3DTennisSFX icon (rounded with dots)  on the Application Screen of your Palm. This application is a self-extracting PalmOS installation. Start it once and it will extract 3 files - 3DTennis, Top20RankUpdate and PToolboxLib.

Upgrade of an old version: Install the new version over the previous one. This will preserve your registration status, if you a registered user.

System requirements: any hardware, min. Palm OS 3.0 ( separate ver. 1.5 supports PalmOS 2.0!)

Read the troubleshooting section if :

• you have experienced any problems during the installation
• you are using a Handera 330 device
• you want to install this game to a memory expansion card
• you have other applications installed that require PToolboxLib graphics library

*** Note to Palm OS 2.0 users: 3D Tennis ver. 1.5 that supports the ancient PalmOS 2.0 is still available on your demand. It is fully functional in black&white and offers most of the the features of the current color version., exept the new Game Modes and the new Court Types. We support this release only as a commercial product, so please purchase first and contact us at support@pda3dware.com, requesting ver. 1.5 . We will send it to you.

General Installation instructions for newbies:
Start your Palm Desktop application on the PC.
To install the game to your handheld choose the game file, for example,
3DTennis-PalmOS5-HiRes.prc
and run it or double-click on it using Explorer, command line, or your favorite file manager.
Palm Software Installation utility will prompt you with other installation
options. Then put your Palm in the cradle and press the hotsync button.

3D Tennis, especially the game is not working properly on the Emulator application. It's not buggy but the Emulator refreshes the screen too slow for it.

You may beam this application to a friend. Beam both 3DTennis and PToolBoxLib applications. 3DTennis will start with an empty database.

3.1. Uninstall
If you decide to deinstall 3D Tennis tap Menu | Delete from the Application launcher:
1. Delete 3DTennis.prc.
2. Delete 3DTennis.-inRAMonly!.pdb
3. Delete 3DTennisView.pdb if exists (only on pre-OS6 handhelds).
4. Delete PToolboxLib.prc shared library if you haven't other color games that require it.

You will find detailed instructions regarding how to control the game in the build-in application Help. They are not listed here.
The speed of the ball and difficulty depends on the Rank position of your TOP20 opponent. Each of the Top20 Players has a different strategy.

• The match finishes after one set, as it is assumed that the typical Palm user has not got the time to play for 3 hours as at Wimbledon! You can select the set duration to be 3 or 6 games into the "Advanced Prefs Panel

3D Tennis is using advantage set system of scoring. The set will be extended until a margin of 2 games is reached

Mistakes:

1. the fault mistake: the ball served did not hit the proper area of the opponent's court. The service will be replayed.
2. the double fault: two consecutive faults. The player loses a point.
3. out: the ball in play hits the ground outside any of the lines which bound the opponent`s part of the court.
4. miss: a player fails to return the ball
5. the ball hits the ground twice

4.2. Тhe Game Types
3D Tennis features three Game Types. They are selected at the main game screen using the corresponding buttons.

1. Tour: You play two compulsory qualification games according to a scheme set by 3D Tennis. There are 3 outcomes, according to your results: 1) you move one level up the Top20 rank list, 2) you remain at your current rank level, 3) you lose one rank level.
2. Training: ("Practice" button)
This mode allows you to practice against one of the famous players, whom you can select from a list-box. Please note that the game results will not count for the TOP20 ranking.
3. Two players game: ("2players" button)
An exceptionally fun game for two players using one device. The view point will “fly” over the field into 3D space according to who is in turn to hit the ball. You can use a non-sharp plastic pen as a second stylus. Both players can be moved at any position of the court.

• Mode - Basic, Smart and Real. Choose your way to play Tennis. The last two Game Modes allows you to control precisely the return force and direction just like in the real tennis while using only the Palm stylus. The Real Mode is closer to the real Tennis, but hard to play without some training.
• Court - Clay, Hard and 6 Grass variations without using of extra memory. The court graphics is generated at run-time.

• Colors - The important feature is that you can change the color scheme even during the game. For example a PalmIIIc owner would be able to play in Color, 16 colors gray, 4 colors gray and even black&white.
• Balls Shadow - Show/Hide
• 2 players' court - A special option for the “two players” game allows you to control whether the 3D view of the tennis court will "fly" or just change.This is an important option as beta tests show that some users may get dizzy because of the complete 3D illusion.
• Sound - On/Off
• Match is - you may chose to finish the set in 3 or 6 games.
• Top20 Rank - switch between Men and Women List.

The menu (from the main screen only!)
To access the Menu click with the stylus on menu silk button of you Palm device. It is hard-painted at the down-left corner of the Palm Screen. The menu options are clear enough and I will not describe them here.

The game parameters: ball max.&min speed, tactics, skill etc. will be varied randomly.
You will be asked whether you want the new models to be faster or slower then the default ones.

You can use this feature at any time. To play against the new AI, select "New AI" as a Speed option in the Prefs panel. You can remove the file which contains the parameters of the New AI later by selecting Menu | Delete New AI.

The TOP20 Rank list is updated monthly in accordance with the real-life ranking of ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) and WTA (Women’s Tennis Association).

Install the new Top20RankUpdate.pdb file to your Palm device. Your own position in the Top20 Rank List will be saved during the update.

Please note that this will be done automatically as long as there are at least 30 registrations of the 3D Tennis per month and the developer is in a good health. Otherwise the registered users can always update the 3D Tennis database, as described below.

7.2. Updating the 3D Tennis TOP20 List using Yahoo Sports Pages of ATP and WTA Tours.
You have the incredible option to import the Tennis Rank List directly from the sport pages of Yahoo and other web resources. This has been done to secure endless support for the registered users.

Short instructions:
Browse with your desktop browser to the Yahoo sport pages and copy their content to two Palm memos, named respectively top20men and top20women.
Start 3D Tennis and select Menu | Import Top20 from Memo.

Step by step instructions:

1. Start you Palm Desktop software. Click on the Memo button.
2. Browse to those web pages using your desktop web browser:

Men (ATP): http://sports.yahoo.com/ten/rankings?gender=m&type=singles
Women (WTA): http://sports.yahoo.com/ten/rankings?gender=w&type=singles
3. Select with the mouse a part of the page, containing the first 20 players or just Select All. Copy the selection to Windows Clipboard (Menu Edit | Copy).

It is not neccessary to select only the first 20 players. You can select any part of the page containind first 20.
4. Activate your Palm Desktop application and Paste (Menu Edit | Paste) the selection in the left window of MemoPad area.
5. Change the first line of the new created memo to be “top20men” or “top20women” (default)
6. Hotsync your Palm device.
7. Start 3D Tennis and choose Menu | Import Top20 from Memo. 3DTennis will proceed with an advanced semantic processing of the text, extract precisely the relevant information about the players and update your 3D Tennis Rank List. This process may take a few seconds.
8. If the information about some of the players has not been correctly recognized, you can edit it manually using Menu | Edit TOP20 Player.

You may use any names for example the names of your friends, family etc. The important thing is that every player must be on a single line.

9. Troubleshooting. Compatibility

1. If you have puchased the game, but the registration code did not work:

1.1. Don't Panic.
1.2. Enter the code again. If the problem persist:
1.2 The most possible reason is that you did not enter your CORRECT Palm Hotsync username
when you purchased. You may see it on the "Register screen" of the game.
Please re-send it to support@pda3dware.com EXACTLY AS YOU SEE IT. It is case-sensitive and
all punctuation and spaces are important.
If you request a new reg code you MUST mention also your Software Order Number in order our
support team to recognize your order as valid.
Please allow 24-48 hours for processing your support request.

2. If you see the messages:
"Could not load PToolboxLib library" or "The version of PToolboxLib library is too old!"
- 3D Tennis will not start. 3D Tennis and every other Color&Grayscale game by "PDA 3Dware.com" requires this shared library. Do not delete it!
ReInstall 3DTennis-PalmOSx-xxx.prc file, suitable for your handheld and start it again.

3. If you have other PalmOS application from other producers that require PToolboxLib library:
The self-extraction PalmOS installation will NOT overwrite you current version of this library. This appllication is using an old version 5.30. This is because we are trying to save about 60K of the RAM of those 99% of the users that don't use this library.

4. Compatibility with other 3-rd party software: 3D Tennis is not compatible with old versions of CJKOS - a localization hack for Chinese/Japanese/Korean. Using of CJKOS ver. 4.21 or newer resolve this issue.

5. You may not install this game directly to a memory expansion card, but you can move it after the installation. Please read MemoryCardReadMe.txt file, for info how to move 3D Tennis to your card.

6. Handera 330 owners should upgrade to the latest version of PTooboxLib graphics library in order to play this game. Download it from here:

Please, installl it after the 3D Tennis been installed&started once! The game is aligned at the center of the Handera screen.

7. If the game does not respond properly to your screen taps, please:

• Disable temporarily all national localization applications or graffiti enhancements if any
• Disable "Write anywhere on-screen" option in Palm Prefs application if activated. Go into Writing Area section there.

8. If non of the above is valid, but the appilication didn`t start:
Disable any HackMaster or X-master extensions and restart the game.
